We pick some of our favorite film series and standalone movies that could rival The Kissing Booth.
‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’
This is another novel adaptation which was turned into a Netflix series.
It is sickly sweet and ties you up in knots as you scream at the television, desperate to see Lara Jean (played by Lana Condor) and Peter (Noah Centineo) make it through the various teenage angst issues that come up.
The story begins when Lara Jean’s mischievous sister sends all her old love letters to those she previously crushed on, turning her life upside down for three movies.
‘Love, Rosie’
Sam Claflin and Lily Collins star in Love, Rosie, based on another book, this time by Cecelia Ahern.
Letters are at the center of this story as well, with this time two people who are close friends as teenagers but always seem to fall for one another at different times in their lives.
After years of tragedies in their lives, connecting and falling out and in love over and over, will the pair ever end up together?
‘Twilight’
All four movies of the Twilight saga are now available on Netflix, meaning those who missed it the first time round can finally catch up.
The story sees teenager Bella (Kristen Stewart) falling in love with a vampire, Edward (Robert Pattinson) and trying to figure out whether she wants to lead a vampire life with him, or live a human life away from the drama he and his family bring.
However, their love is too strong, and throughout the movies there are battles, weddings and babies, as well as a lot of barriers to their happiness.
‘A Cinderella Story’
An oldie but a goodie, this 2004 movie stars Hilary Duff as a waitress whose stepmother often mistreats her, and prevents her from living her life.
But when she meets her Prince Charming, Austin (Chad Michael Murray) who has been her pen pal for a long while, she believes perhaps this could be the moment things change for her.
Of course, the true course of love never did run smooth, and neither is that the case for our Cinderella.
‘All The Bright Places’
This YA drama stars Elle Fanning and Justice Smith as two lonely teenagers struggling with different issues.
They meet and immediately form a bond, but ultimately their trauma continues to find ways to pull them apart, and they both must try to find the joy in life.
This movie is a real tearjerker as well as a YA drama, so do not come to All The Bright Places for lots of laughs.
